Should I be worried ... - 2007-06-15

Variety.

Today I went to the walking trail that I thought was the end of the other trail. Very much not the end of anything at all. About 15 minute walk in and then it abruptly ends at a wide spot. It's a very different kind of trail, though. Now I have sort of a Neopolitan selection going.

First the original river walk. It runs behind Main Street and features the wonderful old trees, picnic areas, playground and the river quietly to one side.

Then there's the abruptly ending trail. It is longer, goes under a noisy highway and features lots of other walkers and cyclists. The river is pretty quiet but the ambient noise of the highway dominates for a good bit of the trip. It's a good walk, however, due to the length.

Finally there's the mill trail. It starts very noisy. There's a bar with a deck that has music blasting near the start. There are picnic tables here and there along the way and the sounds of picnicers and illegal swimmers in the water (no grills, no swimming - but neither prohibition appears to be observed). The trail is way up the bank from the river which is fairly deeply cut there. There are many trails down to the waters edge but all look steep. About halfway down, the people thin out and the effect is very nice. Green with a noisy river just out of sight.

Next I guess I should make use of the many, many trails in the planned community just north of my home. See what they have to offer.
