Office Survivor.

Today I had the surreal experience of realizing my office has become survivor island and we have become some sort of twisted tribal entity. I realized this as I was hashing over with Webguy the things told me by the Temp who has an in because she's married to our IPguy.

Seems that I have an informal alliance with Webguy. We hash things out together and share intelligence about our jobs, offices, potential re-org and all the other uncertainties. In addition I have a good relationship with the Temp even though she is not likely to survive any sort of re-org that happens. We all find ourselves sharing tidbits of information. Manipulating others to try to get information and generally playing strange games of telephone.

The asshole in charge is gone. My boss is gone. Admin is gone. I work for a whole different unit in a whole different structure with a whole different set of rules. We are in temporary office space until our offices renovation can be fixed. Just have to finish the computer room, move the servers and finish off the offices.

Except that now that we are close to moving the machines, they've decided that the servers probably shouldn't be on our floor. They should be in the basement where there is another server room. That leaves us saying why do they need half a floor for us if we don't have servers there and there are only 7 permanent employees and 4 temps/contractors. It's just another information point to be hashed out over and over. Will we or won't we. Where will we be. Today they labeled our furniture "so that it doesn't disappear before the move". Dude we are still sitting at the desks - where do they think they are going to go.

And that's just the work stress...
