Should I be worried ... - 2007-06-15

2002-06-07 - 7:59 p.m.

Strange, stranger, just about normal.

The people in house at the end of the driveway are weirding me out. Yesterday the wife was sort of wandering around my front yard like she was looking for something. Today I look out and their chihuahua's (2) are rooting around in my back yard. DH escorted them home and the wife said "the helicopters were flying low and we could see their guns so we ran in the house and forgot the dogs". Huh?! Personally I didn't hear any helicopters, but they are not unheard of here. I also seriously doubt that if they had guns they would be opening fire on suburban Scaggsville. However the folks next door have accidently hit a roaming dog with their car. I personally think that's a far greater possibility.

Work was quiet today. There was an email message about next weeks all hands meeting. It made most folks think that they'll find out what's happening on Thursday, with layoffs as of Friday. I hate knowing more than they do. By Thursday it will just be the remainders.

The stress was eased, however, which is good. I am 90% confident that my job is safe (only a fool would go for the 100%). I have system knowlege that no one else has, and I have proven myself versatile. I did, however, take the time for a nice chat with my favorite headhunter when she accidentally called me instead of the bank switchboard.

Munchie had Kindergarten graduation yesterday. They sang to us and then collected their certificates from the Principal. It was funny watching them zoom past, the Principal had to kind of grab them to give them their certificates. Very cute. DH managed to mess up the video of it by somehow taping in black and white. How he manages these things, I have no idea.

Today I am just beat. Munchie had an accident at 4:30 am, he got back to sleep but frankly after changing the sheets I was awake. Then a rousing day of fixing strange data failures and more problems with the Software that ate my job. The drive home was endless courtesy of some brain scientists in the highway department who didn't see any problem with closing 2 lanes of the interstate in the middle of rush hour (5 pm). GRRR.
