It's Happy Hour Again.

Tonight is the delightful office holiday dinner. I'm writing this in mid-afternoon and mailing to home for posting after the event.

The office is heading over to Ruth's Chris Steak House for an evening of drunken debauchery. Think I'm kidding, how about some highlights from last year.

We arrived and were sent to the bar awaiting seating. Bossman had his first couple drinks in rapid succession and the helpdesk guy either had 3 or 4, or is very affected by alcohol. Our electrical contracting friends arrived shortly afterwards and the party was moved to this little arena looking area of tables. Everyone is encouraged to order more drinks and several bottles of wine are ordered for the table.

The boss begins hailing every passing female and a) inviting them to sit with us and b) identifying himself as the Chairman of the Board of the bank (by name, not title). The webguy after taking one look at the beefy steakhouse menu makes a vegetarian escape pleading prior commitment. The helpdesk guy removed his pants and threw them over the top of the table to the admin. This is all before dinner arrived. Former co-worker shows up bossman and electric guy laugh uproriously and begin punching each other in the forehead thus re-enacting an episode in formers past where the jealous husband of his mistress caught them 'en flagrante delecto' and punched him in the forehead. Apparently after I left around 10pm, the party moved to the bar where the boss proceeded to try to pick up some nurse from New Jersey.

The boss stopped by my office this morning to ask if I was going to "get hammered" tonight. It promises to be a colorful evening.

Much less wild than I thought. The exec. vp came to the dinner so it was more subdued than in the past. The food was superb. I had the petite filet with a lobster tail. YUM.

The only truely odd thing was the admin who was taking notes in a little notebook for her journal. (Did I write about how she's gonna write a book and make a fortune?). The admin and helpdesk guy also had a bunch of cartoons altered with our names on them for passing around (somebody needs more work at work).

I mentioned to the admin that I had an online journal and she was a bit late with her notes, but I don't think she really understood.

Oh, yeah and later she was saying she was going to quit because she was too disruptive. It started when someone mentioned that she tends to over-react to things. Irony is not dead.

TTFN!
