Just as quickly ...

as it started it is waning. The cicadas which were overwhelming last weekend and seem to be dead this weekend. Seems like it was a mighty short run for the ugly little buggers. But the windows have been open all weekend with barely a buzz and the driveway and yard are littered with carcasses. Heck they just seem to be dropping out of the trees dead.

I end up feeling bad for the few live ones that I do see out there. How are they going to find cicada love with so few of their comrades left. I guess in this case the early bug got the nookie.
