Memory Lane.

Today webguy aka BGH gave his resignation. Everyone saw it coming. He was devistated by the move to the Ops center. His pet project (the big one he was hired for) was axed. He was yelled at, repeatedly, for a variety of things that boiled down to "how dare you think you're a somebody".

I'm sad. It's like the last piece in the chain to what was, plus he was my reality tv buddy. Looking back, however, I'm suprised he lasted this long. He had the worst damn 14 months in a job that I've ever seen. He hired on and immediately inherited Goldilocks as his employee. He had to deal with her absenteeism, her connections and her stupidity. He got the psycho marketing chick as his main customer. We moved from our offices to the borrowed office space. He got to go through the termination process for Goldi. He had to fight to have the software he bought paid for (despite bossman having negotiated and signed the contracts). Then bossman got fired. He got psuedo put in charge of our group, then yelled at when he actually did any leading. He got yelled at for being quoted in a press release despite that being part of one of bossman's contract negotiations. He got moved to the Ops Center. He got to move cubes twice in a month as they bickered over whether he was important enough for the "big cube". They cancelled his pet project. It was just a cluster f*** from the start. I'll miss him.

We got to talking about Goldilocks today. IPguy says to Netguy "she was mistress". Netguy asks "what did she do?" IPguy says "mistresses sleep with people." Netguy looks befuddled and says "then what was her job? I was going to ask what her position was but ..." Needless to say we all got a good laugh out of that.
