A wedding.

So we went to see my BIL get hitched. Number 2 for both he and his bride. [On the ride home DH mentioned that he couldn't find a happy second marriage card so he just got a regular wedding card. Thank goodness!]

It was a longish drive to DH's boyhood hometown. Strange timing by the family - Meet in the lobby at 12:30 but don't leave for the wedding until 1:00 (uhm guys you've now asked me to entertain a 7 year old in a hotel lobby for 30 minutes in dress clothes?!)

The wedding was held in an old house turned restaurant. The pictures were taken prior to the ceremony. The bride opened by telling everyone the schedule, then suggesting that since the room was full of people important to the couple we should not stay at tables but should mingle and try to meet each other. The ceremony itself was very brief and presided over by a clerk of the court. Then there was much drinking, schmoozing and eating. There was a suprisingly large amount of food for an appetizer reception. There were more pictures. There was a toast, but not champagne for everyone. And finally cutting the cake and departing.

The evening continued at the home of the couple with a cold buffet spread and more schmoozing for the immediate family and close friends. It was all very nice, but since my boy was the only child there under the age of 13 and the only other child was his 13 year old cousin it was boring for him. May I now just say that while I hate the idea of electronic babysitting - God Bless Nin tendo! Only that little flashing box could keep the child occupied for that long a time.

So congratulations to Ann and Tom may they share the rest of their life happily together!

Oh yeah, and in the odd things that never happen to me category - I was sitting chatting when a song I really like came on. I was humming along and realized that people generally don't just put that song on mix cd's. It was a Grey Eye Glances song! - not exactly your basic common air play selection. So I approached the bride and groom to say A) love the music and B) how is it you are fans of this particular group? Seems that the band is fairly local to DH's hometown and the bassist's mother is their neighbor, and she was there at the party! So I chatted briefly with her and had her convey a happy fan message! Very different, these things happen to Best Babe, not me!
