Showoff

The husband is a quiet man. He's not stupid, but not at all thoughtful. Still waters may be said to run deep, but the other explanation is stagnation. I occasionally claim to be the invisible woman but truely compared to him I'm dayglo. He does have the things he likes. Bubblegum music, old sitcoms, and movies. Lots of movies.

Last night at the table he related a story from his day (a rarity!). He said one of the contractors asked him if he knew the movie Black Sunday. He then replied that there were actually 2 movies named Black Sunday and proceeded to tell me what he told this guy about some obscure comedy from the 70's and the disaster movie from the 80's. Then he said "but he was talking about the 80's disaster movie". I said "Of course he was, the other one is obscure. You were just showing off."

It was a most amazing look that came over his face. A combination of little boy caught at something, and pride that he actually had something he could show off about. That was followed by a lot of nervous laughter and blush.
