Abstract Expressionism.

My seven year old was coming down the hall, I picked him up early for a trip to the dentist. He was carrying a paper sculpture of loops and chains.

Me: What've you got there.

boy: It's from art. It's from a famous real guy.

M: oh...

b: Yeah only he was a painter too and he made pictures like how he felt. If he was happy he'd put little drips of paint and if he was mad he's make a big splash.

M: So pictures that show how you feel.

b: Yeah, only not with a picture just a bunch of stuff that isn't anything.

M: That's called abstract.

b: Right, abstract expressionism.
