It's a momentus week for Baltimore sports-wise. Now I'm not at all interested in professional sports. Big waste of big amounts of cash as near as I can tell, but even I can appreciate the big stuff.

Our own Cal Ripkin voted to the Hall of Fame. The only pisser of it was that it should have been unanimous but 8 over inflated egos didn't vote yes. Still it was the highest percentage ever and on his first eligible vote. Gotta appreciate the fact that Cal did an amazing job at shortstop, hit very well and played dependably day in and day out for years. Good for Cal! He deserves it.

Momentus item 2 is that the Colts are playing the Ravens at Baltimore in the playoffs. The people of Charm City really know how to hold a grudge. To this day the name Irsay is not said so much as spit. I think the animosity will even outlive the people who were around when the team was stolen away in the night. The loyalty the Colts didn't appreciate has been transfered to the Ravens.

Today was "wear purple for the Ravens" day in Baltimore. The bank was awash in purple. Even I, the non-sports person, wore purple because the other tech group gave lunch today to anyone in purple. As the admin said "I don't care about no football but I can sure wear purple for free food". Some of the outfits were downright scary. There were the requisite jerseys and sweatshirts, but I also saw not 1 but 2 pairs of purple, grey and white cammo pants. On grown men. Yikes.
